About Calon
We are a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting, developing, and supporting skaters to reach their full potential.
We are the only synchronized ice skating club in South Wales, and we’re proud to be at the heart of this fast-growing sport in Cardiff.
Our journey began in 2020, during the COVID19 Lockdown. Since then, we’ve faced and overcome numerous challenges, including the closure of ice rinks due to further interventions and restrictions. Despite these obstacles, our teams have shown incredible dedication and resilience, sticking together, attracting new members, and even competing in major international competitions.
At Calon, we value each and every member, regardless of their skating competence. We aim to offer regular ice time, alongside off-ice training with our Level 4 coach, within a safe, positive, and stimulating training environment. We also provide opportunities to compete nationally and internationally, giving our skaters the chance to showcase their skills and passion for the sport.
We represent more than just a synchronized ice-skating team in South Wales – we stand for passion, teamwork, and the unyielding spirit of our city. Our teams, assembled with skaters of varying skill levels, train with dedication every Sunday, consistently refining our craft and elevating our performances.
Calon is not just a name; it is a symbol of our commitment and love for synchronized ice-skating. “Calon,” meaning “heart” in Welsh, represents the heartbeat of our community, driving our passion and commitment towards this captivating sport.
Meet Our Teams

At Calon, we’re proud to have two dedicated teams of skaters, each bringing their unique energy and passion to the ice.
The Mixed Age Team: This team is a testament to resilience and dedication. Formed just before the first Covid lockdown, they’ve stuck together through the closure of ice rinks, practicing “off ice” and travelling over an hour to train whenever possible. Despite these challenges, they’ve competed in major international competitions and continue to grow, attracting new members and developing their skills.
The Beginner Team: in 2021 our beginner team had never even tried synchronized ice skating. Recently, they dazzled judges at their first-ever competition and continue to develop their skills and confidence on the ice. They represent the future of Calon and the sport of synchronized ice skating.
