At Calon, we’re proud to have four dedicated teams of skaters, each bringing their unique energy and passion to the ice.
The
heartbeat
of Calon
Calon Edges – our Pre Mixed Age Team. This team is a testament to resilience and dedication. This experienced team have competed in a range of national competitions and continue to develop their speed and skills.
Calon Steps – our Pre-Novice team. New for 2025/26 our pre-novice team consists of skaters who are working their way up the synchro ladder! This category bridges the gap between beginners and pre-mixed age and helps skaters to grow in their synchro skills.

Calon Ice – our the Beginners Team. Our beginners’ team is at the very start of their synchro journey and they are full of curiosity, with an openness to learn. They represent the future of Calon and the sport of synchronized ice skating.
Calon Blades – our Adults Team. Our adults are an enthusiastic bunch! Most of them only began synchro at the end of 2024 and are improving their skills all the time! They are aiming to join the competition circuit this season.
About Calon
We are a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting, developing, and supporting skaters to reach their full potential.
We are the only synchronized ice skating club in South Wales, and we’re proud to be at the heart of this fast-growing sport in Cardiff.
Our journey began in 2020, during the COVID19 Lockdown. Since then, we’ve faced and overcome numerous challenges, including the closure of ice rinks due to further interventions and restrictions. Despite these obstacles, our teams have shown incredible dedication and resilience, sticking together, attracting new members, and even competing in major international competitions.
At Calon, we value each and every member, regardless of their skating competence. We aim to offer regular ice time, alongside off-ice training with our coaches, within a safe, positive, and stimulating training environment. We also provide opportunities to compete nationally and internationally, giving our skaters the chance to showcase their skills and passion for the sport.
We represent more than just a synchronized ice-skating team in South Wales – we stand for passion, teamwork, and the unyielding spirit of our city. Our teams, assembled with skaters of varying skill levels, train with dedication every Sunday, consistently refining our craft and elevating our performances.
Calon is not just a name; it is a symbol of our commitment and love for synchronized ice-skating. “Calon,” meaning “heart” in Welsh, represents the heartbeat of our community, driving our passion and commitment towards this captivating sport.
